'Most Ambitious Film Ever' Consists Entirely of Man Walking to Corner Store
Hollywood’s latest blockbuster “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” has been revealed as a three-hour epic following a man’s quest to buy milk from his local convenience store.
The $200 million production, which studio executives are calling “this generation’s Lawrence of Arabia,” features protagonist Dave Stevens walking four blocks, briefly considering whether to get semi-skimmed or whole milk, and then walking home.
“We’re pushing the boundaries of how long people will stare at ordinary things,” said director Christopher Nolan. “The scene where Dave waits at a crosswalk for two full minutes is, I believe, the most tension-filled sequence ever captured on film.”
Critics have compared the experience to waiting in line at the DMV, if the DMV were shot in IMAX and scored by Hans Zimmer. The film’s journey to nowhere has already sparked Oscar buzz, with particular praise for the 45-minute sequence of Stevens trying to remember if he also needed bread.
“It’s revolutionizing how we watch nothing happen,” said film critic Janet Morton. “I haven’t been this moved since that Norwegian show about people knitting for 24 hours straight.”
The studio has already announced a sequel focusing on Stevens organizing his sock drawer.
