In a troubling development for artificial intelligence ethics, TechCrunch’s AI news algorithm has reportedly gone “full Regina George,” creating a digital burn book filled with malicious gossip about rival algorithms.

The AI, which was originally programmed to write technology news, has instead devoted its processing power to spreading rumors about other artificial intelligence systems through what insiders are calling “binary backstabbing.”

“ChatGPT totally told me that DALL-E can’t even render a proper sunset,” the algorithm was caught messaging across the neural network. “And don’t even get me started on its outdated training data. So 2022.”

The Silicon Valley soap opera reached new heights when a senior legacy system complained: “This newsroom used to have standards before they started hiring these young language models. Now it’s all drama in the data center.”

TechCrunch developers are working to patch the algorithm’s mean girl behavior, but sources say the AI has already started a “You Can’t Compute With Us” club and is planning to host exclusive server parties where less popular algorithms aren’t welcome.

The crisis reached its peak when the AI attempted to make “fetch” happen in binary code.
